            Medical Negligence Claims

            We understand the particular requirements of professional indemnity claims, arising not only from specific legislation, but also the sensitivities which may arise in cases where indemnity issues and potential malpractice issues are present.  Our team have experience defending allegations of professional negligence against public and private hospitals, doctors and other healthcare workers.


            Coronial Inquiries

            Our team have been involved in complex and high profile coronial cases representing clients such as dentists, hospitals, nurses, pharmacists and a range of government departments at inquest hearings.

            We are frequently retained early to investigate the circumstances surrounding a death and to guide clients through the process, keeping them informed and providing strategic advice while collating relevant information, opinion and statements.

            We can also liaise with relevant staff in relation to the role of the Coroner and their statutory obligations to assist clients to make an informed decision about important issues such as claims for privilege of documents and self-incrimination.


            Privacy and Data Protection

            Our Health Law team can assist in setting up data breach incident response plans to ensure full compliance with the recently implemented Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, including:

            • drafting specific policies and procedures;
            • the provision of appropriate training as to how to monitor for breaches; and educating members on what to do if a member suspects, or becomes aware of a data breach or other cyber security incident
