            Date: 10/03/2020

In a continuation of the lateral hiring campaign that has made DWF one of the fastest-growing practices in Australia, the London Stock Exchange-listed legal business has welcomed a three-person team from mid-tier firm MacPherson Kelley.

Alex Ninis joined DWF’s Melbourne office as a Principal Lawyer and has been joined by Marcus Hannah, Senior Associate and Serpil Bilgic, Solicitor.

DWF's Australian Managing Director Jamie McPherson said: “DWF’s ability to attract specialist teams is testament to the appeal of our distinctive brand proposition in the competitive Australian market."

“We welcome Alex, Marcus and Serpil and look forward to their success in growing DWF’s IT, privacy, data security, telco and IP practice”.

With more than 30 years’ legal experience, Alex Ninis has worked in-house for Lend Lease Corporation, Burns Philp & Co Ltd and PeopleSoft and as a partner of Truman Hoyle (now Bird & Bird) and Blue Rock Law, which was acquired by Macpherson Kelley in 2014. Alex acts for global and local information technology suppliers, and acquirers of information technology and telecommunications products and services, in the Asia Pacific region.

Marcus Hannah is a commercial and technology lawyer with expertise in drafting and negotiating technology agreements, privacy law, data security, e-signature legality and intellectual property licensing.

Serpil Bilgic is a commercial and IT solicitor with experience advising IT companies regarding privacy laws and in the drafting and negotiation of a vast array of agreements for the information technology sector.

The DWF office in Melbourne has seen significant expansion since its launch in 2019, most recently with the senior appointments of Principal Lawyers, Richard Skopal and Andrea Towson. The  Australian practice now employs approximately 200 people.
